MARIProject 8.1: Relevant for the EC&O Sector
The latest version MARIProject 8.1 comes with a wide range of features. New features such as “External Production,” “External Finishing,” “Container,” and “Bill of Lading (CMR)” are particularly relevant for project-based companies in the Engineering, Construction and Operations sector.
External Production
In the EC&O industry, entire components for a project are often manufactured externally for cost or time reasons. Production is based on a bill of materials (BOM). Depending on costs and inventory, a decision must be made as to whether some or all items are to be supplied (provided) for production.
MARIProject covers three variants of this process:
- Purchasing the complete component.
- Purchasing the component, with some or all individual items being provided.
- Purchasing the component plus a service, e.g., assembly, plus any items provided.
After production, the new component is placed in the warehouse as a separate item with its own item number, while the items used are booked out.
External Finishing
In comparison, MARIProject also supports “external finishing,” in which only one production step is outsourced to an external vendor. A practical example of this is surface coating: In this case, the component manufactured in-house is sent to a nearby specialized company for painting and then placed in the warehouse.
Container & Bill of Lading (CMR)
Also of interest to the EC&O industry are the new logistics capabilities: For shipping to customers, MARIProject supports bundling individual items or materials into so-called “containers” and calculating their weight.
Bills of Lading are required for loaded trucks. The standardized Bill of Lading (CMR) can be generated with MARIProject.
