MARINGO on the road
Last Friday, August 30, 2024, the MARINGO team went on a company outing. At first glance, two very different destinations were on the agenda: The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt – DLR) and an Escape Room.
Under unusually cloudy skies for this summer, we first took a tour of the DLR campus in the southeast of Cologne. During the highly interesting, very entertaining tour, we learned a lot about the organization, training and work of the international research teams. At the European Astronaut Center (EAC), we had the opportunity to explore the training hall of the International Space Station (ISS) and watch the work of the astronauts currently stationed on the ISS on screens. Astronauts spend a lot of time together in confined spaces during their diverse scientific activities. The ability to work in a team is therefore an important basic requirement for this profession.
After a delicious snack in the Rheinauhafen of Cologne, we MARINGOs were then able to put our teamwork skills to the test. In the Escape Room, each group had just one hour to escape from a small room full of tricky puzzles, such as a prison cell or a mysterious “house”, solve a seemingly perfect murder or convict a serial killer. Sixty minutes of fun and excitement!
After a short, sunny walk along the Rhine, we brought the eventful day to a relaxed close with a nice dinner in the old town of Cologne.
Looking back, we can highly recommend both destinations. It was an eventful and exciting team outing.
